Thanksgiving and gratitude

In the US, on Thursday, many will be celebrating Thanksgiving. The holiday traditionally has revolved around reflection and gratitude. Now, as a society, we also have added giving back to the community as part of our Thanksgiving mantra.

Reflecting on this Thanksgiving, what has brought us joy and happiness this year? What accomplishments are we most proud of? What are the next steps in our journey?

Who are we grateful for, and how can we express such gratitude?

Is there someone or something special that happened that entered our lives this year? How do we express gratitude for the food on our Thanksgiving table yet help or give to others who may not be as fortunate?

We should always be grateful for good health, but this Thanksgiving, we should also respond to those who may need our support dealing with mental and physical health issues. Lastly, we should be grateful to be alive and never take life for granted. Always get your fill to eat, but never lose the hunger or wonder to accomplish something extraordinary.

So, as we gather with family and friends, remember to practice mindfulness, to stay in the moment, and to be grateful for the experience. Again, Thanksgiving is that memorable holiday for personal thought and gratitude.
